you
I want to share this with you someday,
Whoever you are or might end up being by Then.
I honestly don’t have a clue about
What it entails.
Seeing it all for myself, I understood the lack of necessity for you,
Or anyone beside me.
Yet I acknowledged it. Your place.
The former need for you, for a live person to listen to my thoughts,
To share them.
I didn’t know what “need” was.
The leaves, painted with crimson and
Slightly torn by the insects that chewed through and
The squirrels that stomped on them.
I felt a special sorrow for them, but I know
They’re probably confident in how pretty they’ve grown to be.
The trees bare the same tint, as velvet laid across their tops.
Watching them flow was so intimate.
They begged me to stare, to never leave.
To remain me, to witness them.
I’m not sure that they asked for you, but I’m sure you’d be welcome.
Sitting in me, a conscience that I became for myself.
Noticing each aspect, each shift.
Feeling the air, tasting the water,
Hearing the wind, thanking it for its graceful touch.
At this moment, I am.
